Nasarawa: Gunmen kill one, abduct two others

Gunmen have killed one person and kidnapped two others in the Gadabuke community of Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 26, 2024, when the assailants targeted the home of Agaba Yakubu. During the invasion, Yakubu Garba was shot dead, and two other individuals were abducted.

Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, August 27. He reported that police operatives have been deployed to track down the assailants.

Nansel detailed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Toto Division received a distress call around 2 a.m. on August 25. The call alerted officers to the attack at Agaba Yakubu’s residence, where Garba Yakubu was killed and two others were taken.

“The DPO immediately dispatched officers to the scene. The body of the deceased was recovered and later returned to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions,” Nansel said.

The police spokesperson emphasised that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the gunmen. He assured that officers have been mobilised to rescue the kidnapped individuals and bring the perpetrators to justice.
