Police arrest two robbers in Bauchi

Officials from the Bauchi Police Command have reported the arrest of two individuals suspected of robbery in the state capital.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil detailed that the suspects, during questioning, admitted to their roles in facilitating armed robbery and acknowledged their involvement in the theft of numerous valuable items from various residences.

The statement emphasized the recovery of stolen goods, including five laptops, four mobile phones, five power banks, one router, six wristwatches, one jam box, and one clipper, marking a notable accomplishment for the police.

The statement further explained that in the early hours of Monday, August 26, 2024, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by Sani Mohammed and working with the Yan Committee, made a significant breakthrough by intercepting a tricycle with suspicious occupants in the Unguwan Jahun area of Bauchi.

Despite the suspects’ attempts to escape, two of them, Aliyu A. Aliyu, also known as Jagaba, aged 24, and Abdulrahman Ibrahim, known as Abdun Umma, aged 17, both from the Jahun area, were apprehended at the scene.

The police are continuing their investigations to capture the remaining members of the gang. Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad praised the efforts of the Rapid Response Squad and reassured the public of his firm commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state.
