Olu Alo becomes 46th President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta

Dr. Edward Olu Alo has been inaugurated as the 46th President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta, assuring of more positive impact projects in the metropolitan area. 

The inauguration was held in Abeokuta over the weekend when the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ogun State, Hon. Adijat Adeleye bowed out as the 45th President of Rotary club, Abeokuta. 

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Alo assured that he would be more committed to service and continue with stride to push the club to greater heights within the Rotary year and beyond with the magical touch that is unfolding. 

He added that he would consolidate strongly on achievements and continue to touch lives while ensuring communities and people around to experience the magical touch of Rotary.

“We are not magicians but we hope to make our touch magical within the Rotary year. We will start from our own sphere and activate centrifugally, touching lives as we go and ensuring we give a touch of the magic of Rotary. The theme chosen for this Rotary year ‘The Magic of Rotary,’” he said. 

He explained that the magic of Rotary lies in the ability to transform lives, create lasting change, and bring hope where it is needed.

According to the newly crowned president, the laid down achievable goals of his tenure include, “Peace building and Conflict Prevention. In a world often marred by conflict and division, Rotary’s role as a peace builder is more crucial than ever We will continue to foster understanding and dialogue, supporting initiatives that promote peace and conflict resolution in our communities and beyond”

“Disease Prevention and Treatment: Health is a fundamental human right, and rotary’s efforts in eradicating diseases have saved countless lives. This year, we will enhance our healthcare projects, ensuring that we provide critical support and resources to combat diseases and improve health outcomes.

“Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene: Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for healthy living. Our projects will focus on providing sustainable water solutions and promoting hygiene practices that prevent disease and improve the quality of life for countless”.

“Individuals. Maternal and Child Health: The health of mothers and children is a cornerstone of healthy communities. We will continue our efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality by supporting healthcare services.

“Community Economic Development: Economic stability is key to the prosperity of any community. Through vocational training. microfinance projects, and entrepreneurship programs, we will help lift families out of poverty and create opportunities for sustainable and others.” 

Also speaking, the Immidiate past President,  Hon. Adijat Adeleye expressed confidence in the coming administration,  noting that Dr. Alo is capable of achieving more developmental goals.

She disclosed that her greatest achievement was the completion of Rotary Club Secreatariat.
