Police rescue 30 kidnap victims, foil bandit attacks in Katsina

Police in Katsina State have rescued at least 30 kidnap victims and prevented several bandit attacks through a series of operations conducted across the region.

The most recent event occurred on August 21st, when CSP Bello Abdullahi Gusau, the DPO of Dutsinma Police Division, spearheaded a raid on a bandits’ hideout in Dutsinma Local Government Area with a combined force of police operatives and vigilantes.

During the operation, seven hostages abducted from Farar Kasa and Shanga villages in Dutsinma LGA were rescued unharmed, and an AK47 rifle was also seized.

This information was revealed by the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, on Thursday.

CP Musa also reported that on the same day, following intense gun battles, police operatives thwarted bandit attacks in Malumfashi and Jibia LGAs, rescuing 20 kidnapped victims and recovering five rustled cows from Yaba Village in Malumfashi.

In Jibia, the team rescued three kidnapped victims from bandits who had attacked the villages of Jibian Maje, Nasarawa, and Lankwasau.

CP Musa praised the bravery of the police officers involved in the operations and encouraged the public to keep supporting the police and other security agencies by providing timely information to aid in combating crime in the state.
