PSG no longer interested in Osimhen

French giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly withdrawn from the pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, choosing instead to focus on retaining their current attacking options.

PSG had been linked with Osimhen, particularly after Gonçalo Ramos’ injury, which is expected to sideline the Portuguese forward for up to three months. However, French publication L’Equipe reports that PSG now prefers to rely on their existing forwards, including Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo-Muani, Marco Asensio, and Bradley Barcola.

Recently, PSG had made a low offer for Osimhen, and their initial approach for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman also fell short of the Italian club’s valuation. This decision underscores PSG’s intent to leverage their current squad depth as they aim for success in Ligue 1 and European competitions.

With PSG stepping back, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis’ £113 million release clause for Osimhen could pose a challenge for potential suitors like Chelsea and Arsenal, who have both shown interest. Despite his impressive form, including winning Serie A’s top scorer award for 2022/23 with 26 goals, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain as the transfer window nears its end.
