Jigawa Gov sympathises with flood victims, approves relief materials

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has sympathised with the people of the state over the recent flood incident in some parts of the state, and approved the distribution of relief materials to the affected victims.

The governor explained that the areas affected by the flood include Auyo, Buji, Birnin Kudu, Guri, Gwaram, Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kirikasamma, Ringim, and Taura Local Government Areas.

He said the government took all necessary measures to curtail the situation by providing adequate working materials and embarked on actions to minimize the flood effect.

The governor stated that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has made efforts to support the flood victims by providing adequate emergency relief items as part of the rapid response mechanism by the government to provide immediate support to various communities in the state.

He added that the flood victims have been moved to a safer place with all needed support such as food and non-food items, as well as full medical attention and portable drinking water.

In another development, the Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the distribution of various commodities across the newly established palliative shops in the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

However, the council has announced the suspension of the distribution of palliative commodities in 7 Local Government Areas where government stores were vandalized during the last week’s protest.

The council also approved the temporary closure of the vandalized State Skills Acquisition Centers in Babura and Birnin Kudu.

Additionally, the Ministry of Land is to commence the process of revoking plots/lands belonging to individuals and organizations that failed to effect development on the plots/lands allocated to them by the Jigawa State Government.
