Explosion reported at action people’s party secretariat in Rivers state

An explosion has reportedly struck the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) along the GRA axis in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The suspected dynamite blast occurred early Monday morning around 1 a.m., causing significant damage to windows, doors, and other parts of the building.

While the police have not yet confirmed the incident, reports suggest that unidentified attackers threw substances believed to be dynamite into the building, resulting in the explosion.

This incident follows rumors that Governor Siminalayi Fubara may be considering a move to the Action People’s Party (APP) along with his supporters, amid claims that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has taken control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The explosion caused extensive damage to the ceiling and fittings of the building, and some party officials were seen discussing the event.

A party official, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed the attack was politically motivated, stating, “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed about the attack at around 3 a.m. today. This is clearly a politically-motivated act. The APP is rapidly growing in the state. We urge the police to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.”

Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko said she had not yet verified the explosion. “I don’t have information on the incident at this time, but you can send me a text so I can look into it.”
