Police nab six suspects for attempted murder

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended six individuals on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

The Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed the arrests in a statement released on Wednesday in Osogbo.

Opalola said the suspects were arrested in Ede, Osun State, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Akure, Ondo State and Lagos State.

Opalola also disclosed that the police recovered a Beretta pistol without a magazine, a locally made pistol, two cartridges, an iPhone, an Apple wristwatch, two Toyota Camry cars, an earpod, an ATM card, and a screwdriver from the suspects.

The suspects, identified as Sunday Felix Eniola 42, Sunday Emeka 48, Solomon Michael 49, Ebere Nwoye 32, Moses Ogbu 42, and Friday Bernard 50, were named by Opalola.

The statement details that on” April 7, 2024, around 11:20 p.m., a complainant reported to ‘B’ Division Ede that four armed robbers invaded his home in Akankan Area, Ede. They stole valuables including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, clothes, a PS4, an iPad, an earpod, an Apple wristwatch, chargers, and sneakers, totaling approximately N4,990,000.

Additionally, on April 14, 2024, at about 11:12 p.m., the same gang, arriving in a Toyota Corolla with registration number APP 352 RR, attacked a residence in Fiwasaye Agbale Area, Ede. They kidnapped the occupant and stole three HP laptops, a power bank, and a white Wi-Fi device.

“The complainant was not released until 4:30am after collecting the sum of one hundred and twenty three thousand naira (N123,000) ransom which was transferred to Account No. 2022108661 belonging to one of the armed robbers, Solomon Michael. D.

“During the incident, one of the robbers, identified as Sunday Felix, shot the complainant’s brother, Ali Monday Segun, in the right leg with a Beretta pistol. The victim was subsequently taken to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, where the bullet was removed.

“Additionally, on April 19, 2024, around 11:45 p.m., another complainant from Power Line Area, Agbale Ede, Osun State, reported that three armed men scaled the fence of their home and forcibly entered the house. They stole valuables including an iPhone X, Infinix Note 8i, Itel power bank, wristwatch, two iPhone 14 Promaxes, clothes, and a Toyota Venza with registration number SMK 488 JJ, valued at approximately N11 million.

“Furthermore, On 27th April, 2024 at about 2:30am, a complainant of Fasina’s Estate, Aisu Ede reported that, a gang of Armed Robber stormed his house and forcefully broke the door, collected their valuables such as Iphone and Toyota Highlander which belong to Federal Polytechnic Ede Union.

“Additionally, on May 29, 2024, at around 11:00 p.m., a complainant reported that his home in Agbale Area, Ede, Osun State, was raided by three armed men. They ransacked his room and those of other occupants, stealing valuables including iPhones, an iPad, a PS3 game, and a TVS motorcycle with registration number GNN 06 QQ.

“These incidents were reported to the A and B Divisions in Ede. Since then, the police have been actively pursuing the suspects. The cases were transferred to the CP’s Monitoring Unit for a thorough investigation.”

Opalola disclosed that the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.

“The CP’s Monitoring Unit investigative team immediately swung into action arrested the above named suspects in connection with the cases at various locations such as Ede, Abeokuta, Akure and Lagos States respectively and the aforementioned exhibits were recovered. Investigation is still ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover other stolen items.”
