Police arrest armed robbery suspects, recover stolen vehicles, items

Officers from the Zone 7 Police Command Headquarters, responsible for the Federal Capital Territory, have apprehended suspects involved in car theft, armed robbery, and murder.
The operation, based on intelligence gathered and conducted in collaboration with the Niger State Police Command, led to the recovery of stolen vehicles, firearms, laptops, and other items.
This was disclosed in a statement by the zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, M.B Abdulkadir, at the Command Headquarters in Abuja, according to a tweet from the Nigeria Police Force’s X, formerly Twitter, handle on Wednesday.
Four suspects — Solomon Nuhu, 22; Faruk Umar, 17; Bolaji Yusuf, 34; and Lawal Yusuf, 38 — were arrested for car theft, robbery, illegal possession of firearms, murder, and criminal conspiracy.
According to Abdulkadir, “Police detectives from the Special Investigation Squad at Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, acted on actionable intelligence to arrest Haruna Akubo, also known as Young Alhaji. During the operation, five suspected stolen vehicles were recovered from L.Y. Nadabo Motors, located opposite One Man Village Shopping Centre in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
“Two additional suspects, Bolaji Yusuf, 34, and Abubakar Umar, were also arrested at Heart Plaza in Maraba. Bolaji Yusuf was found with two vehicle master keys, three stolen phones, and a set of car keys.”
Preliminary investigations led detectives to recover 32 phones of various models and a 9mm Beretta pistol with live ammunition from Faruk Umar. During the investigation, the Beretta was traced to Solomon Nuhu, who claimed he had purchased it from Faruk Umar for N130,000.
The statement further revealed that detectives discovered additional stolen vehicles in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, including five cars. Among these was a Lexus IS 250, the owner of which was reportedly killed during the car theft. The suspect in this case, Ibrahim Umar, also known as Godiya, remains at large.
In total, ten vehicles with altered chassis numbers, along with laptops and mobile phones, were seized from the criminal network.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police for the zone, Ogundele Ayodeji,”has ordered a thorough investigation. Once completed, the suspects will face charges in court.
“He urges law-abiding citizens of the FCT to remain vigilant in their daily activities, report any suspicious behaviour to the police, and be assured that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to its duty of protecting lives and properties.”
