Wrestling: Ogunsanya loses in opening round

Christianah Ogunsanya, representing Team Nigeria, was eliminated from the women’s freestyle 53-kilogram wrestling event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Wednesday. Competing at the Champ-de-Mars Arena, Ogunsanya faced Khulan Batkhuyag of Mongolia in the round of 16 but was defeated with a score of 1-3, marking her as the second Nigerian athlete to be eliminated from the wrestling competition.

Earlier in the competition, Blessing Oborududu also failed to secure a medal for Nigeria, despite advancing to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, she lost in the bronze medal match. Ogunsanya, however, did not progress as far, as her bout concluded in the first period with a decisive loss.

These outcomes, highlighting the challenging campaign for Nigerian wrestlers at the Olympic Games.
