Germany and Japan join forces for combined air force exercise

The inaugural joint training session on Monday saw the German Air Force and its Japanese counterpart, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, come together for the first time. According to a spokesperson from the German Air Force, the training involved Eurofighter combat jets and an A400M transport aircraft, marking the commencement of the collaborative exercise named Nippon Skies. This initiative is part of the broader Pacific Skies exercise series, spanning several weeks.

Simultaneously, in Australia, the German Air Force has commenced its involvement in the Pitch Black 24 aerial exercises, which involve multiple nations. This participation underscores Germany’s increasing engagement in the economically and strategically vital Asia-Pacific region.
