Tinubu’s financial autonomy for LGAs: A milestone in Nigeria’s history – Adedayo
Former personal photographer of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Stephen Ola Adedayo, has commended the President for granting financial autonomy to local government areas, a move that has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
Adedayo described this as a significant achievement and a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to decentralizing power and empowering local communities.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving ceremony in Lagos to mark his birthday, Adedayo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for taking bold steps to ensure that all citizens benefit from democracy, regardless of their religious or ethnic background.
He highlighted the President’s leadership and vision in addressing the long-standing concerns of Nigerians and his dedication to creating a better future for all.
Adedayo noted that since 1999, local governments have been marginalized, with state governments treating them as appendages.
This has hindered grassroots development and perpetuated inequality. However, President Tinubu has taken decisive action to restore the autonomy of local governments, returning power to the people and paving the way for sustainable growth.
“Let me categorically state that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pronouncement on this issue echoes the sentiment of numerous Nigerians,” Adedayo said.
“The President has addressed the long-standing concerns of our people, and we are grateful for his wisdom and leadership. The President’s commitment to backing this autonomy with legislation is a welcome development and a testament to his dedication to democratic principles.”
Adedayo urged all stakeholders, including state governors, to support President Tinubu’s efforts to develop Nigeria and make it a better place for all citizens.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration and cooperation in achieving this goal and encouraged Nigerians to work together to build a brighter future.
