Why I ran out of Nigeria — Man cries out
An alleged Indigenous Peoples of Biafra Volunteer Force (IPOBVF) member, Onwumere Ndubuisi, has disclosed that the reason he decided to escape from the country was to save his life from the pressures he was being subjected to in Nigeria.
“It is now years since the Indigenous people of Biafra came into existence in the eastern part of Nigeria called (IPOB). For years IPOB has maintained and sustained its existence as a principled platform for the defence, protection and promotion of Igbo ideals, for the next stage of life.
“For the country to be truly united the south east of Nigeria should be given a sense of belonging to erase the impression of persecution of a section of the country. No country is without its challenges but the Igbo nation has been neglected and abandoned in a nation called Nigeria.
“I was one of the indigenous people of Biafra volunteer force (IPOBVF) to checkmate, sanitise and remind our living Biafrans on the importance of celebrating our fallen heroes and heroines who fought gallantly to liberate us from the country called Nigeria which we don’t want to be part of Biafrans were murdered which led to the civil war of 1967 and a repetition of the part has not stopped by the government of Nigeria up till date.
“The Nigerian government deliberately wants to erase the Igbo people of Nigeria to achieve the aim of sectional elimination of the eastern citizens. This observation crop up the idea of the Igbo race to observe May 30th of every year in Igbo land as Biafrans Day. It is a day earmarked by every true born of Igbo land to celebrate our fallen soldiers.
“All Biafrans were told to ‘sit at home’ to give maximum respect to our people killed in their cause of living in a nation not befitting for their existence.
“Injustice reigns supreme and there is no equal right in Nigeria.
“The ‘sit at home’ on every May 30th is a covenant observed by every IPOB followers in the eastern region which the Nigerian government feels is a threat to their sovereignty as a nation.
“The Nigeria government saw this as a bold step to eliminate the easterners silently so as to achieve an aim to an end. (kill them before they grow) the humiliation act from the government of Nigerian people in self-defence, forcing our people against their own will, moving them away from existence and subsistence.
“This attitude is what we IPOB volunteers will not accept and reason for interception and also re-appraisal of IPOB strategy.
“A case study of the killings of 10 Nigerian soldiers in a reprisal attack of 3 IPOB soldiers that was killed by Nigerian soldiers. The incident happened at Obikabia junction in Ogbor Hill, Obingwa LGA, Abia state.
“The Nigeria army has mobilised troops and invaded the eastern streets with armoury, firing rapidly into Igbo residence and declared IPOB volunteer force with gift reward to kill any IPOB soldiers with information on where we can be found which led to my running away from Nigeria,” he said.
