Ogun Family, Osho-Leragun appoints family head, other principals

An Ogun family, Osho-Leragun family, at Omi Leragun in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state has appointed a new principal officer to represent the interest of the family.

The family which comprises 6 branches after nominations selected Mrs Hawulatu Osho-Leragun emerged as the family head, while Iyabo Leragun and Kayode Leragun were appointed as the Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

The family after the selection said the process is necessary to ensure that the interest of the family is protected.

The new Head of the family, Mrs Hawulatu Osho-Leragun, in her remarks, thanked family members for the confidence repose in her to steer the ship of the family, while seeking for collaboration and support from all members to move the family name upward.

“I want to appreciate all family members present today for this historic preservation of our common rights, customs and norms.

“The task before me is to further unite us, and protect our common interest against external factors. I hereby promised not to abuse this trust repose on me,” she said.

Speaking earlier, the legal counsel to the family, Barr. Toriola Williams, from the chambers of Chief Taiwo Hassan Legal Office, noted that the decision of the family to select a head is in fulfilment of the constitutional rights of the family, and in accordance with the laws and native customs of the land.

“As representative of the Osho Leragun family, in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state. Today is a milestone in the history of the family as they appoint the family head to lead the family. The selection is devoid of any rancour, this is more of a consensus from the family.

“This exercise has not in any form means excise their properties, or family land to anyone,  but in conformity with the law and the native customs, this is why they have appointed principal officers of their family,” he said.

Meanwhile, the representative of the family oldest progenitors, Akeem Leragun affirms the consent of the popular progenitor, simply identified as Baba Leragun in the activities leading to the selection of the family head.

He added, “Baba would have loved to be here but we all know he is of advanced age, and could not come out due to his ill health.

“He however sent his words through me, saying that he completely gives consent to all that is happening here today. He wished us well while counting on the selected leaders of the family to live up to the family values.”
