Ogun Customs generates N92.4bn in Q2 2024

The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced that it generated a revenue of N92.4 billion in the second quarter of 2024, representing a 52.46 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Comptroller James Ojo, the Customs Area Controller, the command also made significant seizures of prohibited goods, including cannabis sativa, foreign-used pneumatic tires, frozen poultry products, and other items with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N770.7 million.

The command’s anti-smuggling activities have led to the interception of 219 sacks and 1,725 parcels of cannabis sativa, 940 rounds of live ammunition, 44,466 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and other items.

Comptroller Ojo attributed the command’s success to the dedication and professionalism of its officers and men, as well as the support of traditional rulers and security agencies in Ogun State.

He also commended the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, for his leadership and enabling support, which have been crucial in enhancing the command’s capabilities and driving its impressive results.

The command’s achievements are a testament to its commitment to the economic growth and development of Nigeria, as well as its determination to protect the local economy, ensure public health and safety, and uphold the integrity of the country’s borders.
