Alia promises to revive Taraku Mills, boosts constituency’s economy

Benue state Governor Rev. Fr. Dr.  Hyacient Alia has assured the people of Gwer/ Gwer West Federal Constituency of his administration readiness to revive the mutlimillion Taraku Mills Limited located in the area.

The Governor also promised to renovate and upgrade School of the Gifted And Government Girls Secondary School Aliade that offers exchange programme for students across the country.

Alia made the assurance promise during the weekend at the occasion of  his thank you tour to Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency held at St Francis Primary School Aliade, Gwer East LGA.

He revealed that his administration has commenced the process of reviving the multimillion Taraku Mills Limited to provide job opportunities to the teaming population of the area and the state at large and commended the people for ensuring that the  company’s property was not vandalised all these years.

He noted the overwhelmed support  received during the 2023 governorship election with the uncommon results recorded  which formed the basis of his thank you visit and assured not to disappoint the constituency and the people of  State.

The Governor lamented the castigation attitude some National Assembly members within the constituency who do not want him to bring development to the people but assured that they would not succeed.

Speaking on the issues of land disputes, the Governor explained that the boundary commission is going to demarcate all disputed areas in the State and urged all affected communities to cooperate with demarcated boundary Commission in the discharge of their duties without rancor.

Earlier, Sen Barnabas Gemade Chairman Benue APC Elders Forum commended the Governor  for his forthrightness.

Gemade described the Governor as a man of peace and enjoined all and sundry to embrace peace and remain supportive to his administration to succeed.

He further disclosed that over 120 elders accros the State were strongly behind the Governor and would ensure that he delivers his campaign promises.

In her welcome address, Caretaker Chairman, Gwer East LGA, Mrs. Comfort Agbo said the people of Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency were very proud of the achievements recorded by the governor just in one year.

Mrs Agbo further appealed to the governor to forgive the National Assembly members from the Constituency over their actions and utterances that were fashioned at brind emeaning his reputation.

She said such NASS members were not speaking for the people of the Constituency adding that they would be made to pay for their actions during the next election.

Prof Eugene Aliegba, while commending the governor for his efforts in restoring to peace in the State also urged the governor to ensure that all IDPs return to their homes safely.

Prof Aliegba said that Naka the headquarters of Gwer West was over populated due to displacement caused by herders attacks has resulted to security challenges in the area.

He also urged the governor to disregard the utterances of the NASS members from the constituency because they were not speaking the minds of the people.

Nigerian NewsDirect reports that some NASS members from State on several occasions accused the governor of excluding them in his decision making.

Also Member, representing Gwer /East State Assembly, Mr Elias Audu urged the governor to revive the multimillion Taraku Mills Ltd to improve the State economy and create jobs in the State.

Audu also urged the governor to renovate the School of the Gifted Aliade and Government Girl Secondary School Aliade which receives students all overall the country as exchange programme.

He assured the people of the State that at the Assembly, they were enacting laws that would bring development, public order and progress in the State.

Also the APC State Acting Chairman, Mr Benjamin Omakolo while receiving 2900 persons who defected from other political parties into the APC assured them of equal treatment.
