Presidency dismisses rumor of N105,000 minimum wage

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has described as false the news circulating on the Internet that the Federal Government has proposed N105,000 as the new minimum wage.

A report had emerged that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, had proposed N105,000 in the new minimum wage template.

But Onanuga in a post on his X handle on Thursday said Edun did not propose N105,000 minimum wage as being speculated.

He said: “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had asked Edun to present a new wage template within two days.

However, labour was yet to confirm if the government has made a new offer to it.
