The Ogun State Government has commended the Build A School in Africa (BASIA) group for its unwavering commitment to developing education in Nigeria and Africa. The commendation came during the handover ceremony of a block of four classrooms and school start-up kits to Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele, Abeokuta.

The Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised BASIA’s efforts in supporting public schools, stating that the organisation has engendered transformative changes in the state’s education landscape. She urged the school authority and students to make judicious use of the facility.

The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, also commended the donation, promising to partner with BASIA for more developmental projects.

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi, acknowledged the efforts of the donor, emphasising that the government alone cannot provide for its citizens.

The Director, COAFRICA USA, Mrs. Marci Romney, reiterated the group’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for learners, while the donor, Dr. Victor Ukorebi, disclosed that BASIA has donated 10 blocks of classrooms to the state government and promised to continue partnering with government and private organisations in the education sector.
