Police launch search for 24-year-old Michael for alleged murder

The Kwara State Police Command, have launched a manhunt for One Robert Michael, Male, 24, for allegedly killing his girlfriend Sukurat Quadri in Ede Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A statement by the Kwara State police command, SP. Olaitan Lola, Public relations officer said, “Michael, 24 years, (Male) was born on 15th March, 1990 and from Edo State is hereby declared wanted by the command.”

The statement further confirmed the development in an extract KW:1000/EDS/BZ/VOL T/402, and obtained by our correspondent

According to the police the sad incident was said to have occurred on the 20th March, 2014 and was first reported to the police by Sukurat’s father, Alhaji Quadri.

It was gathered that trouble started when Michael, a Christian and a native of Edo State but lives in Kwara State in search for greener pasture started having an affair with the said Sukurat who is from a Muslim family.

The romance was said not to have gone down well with Sukurat parents who tried every single effort to put an end to their affairs because according to him, Michael is an infidel.

Amid the development, Sukurat was said to have become pregnant with Michael’s baby.

Fearing her father’s opposition to her affairs with Michael, Sukurat reportedly took to consuming excess abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy from the relationship.

A neighbour in Michael’s rented apartment who identified himself as Edward said, “Sukurat’s father’s pressure led her to begin taking pills in order to terminate the pregnancy despite repeated pleas from Michael.

“Unfortunately, Sukurat’s decision backfired and that led to her untimely death on March 20, 2014.

“After the unfortunate incident, Alhaji Quadri and his relatives stormed Michael’s home in Ilorin to demand for Michael’s head.

“They were armed with dangerous weapons, chanting war songs to the effect that they have come to avenge Sukurat’s death.

“However, Michael managed to escape through the exit door and never returned back till date.”

Sources said the police are still trying their best to ensure Michael’s arrest and have asked anyone with vital information about his whereabouts to report to any nearest police station across the nation.
