Death toll hits 11 in Kano explosion
The death toll of worshippers from Wednesday’s explosion has risen to 11.
Recall that Nigerian NewsDirect based on reports obtained from the Police had reported that over 24 persons were injured in the explosion on Wednesday.
The Kano Police Command gad revealed that the explosion was caused by a suspect, Shafi’u Abubakar, aged 38 years, who said his action was purely in hostility following prolonged family disagreement over sharing of inheritance, of which those that he alleged to have cheated him were in the mosque at that moment and he did that for his voice to be heard.
The spokesperson of Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Thursday said the deaths have risen from six to 11.
According to the Police spokesperson, Malam Hamisu, they have so far buried 11 victims.
“We have just returned from the graveyard where we buried the 11th victim. The death toll has risen from eight as of yesterday evening to 11 now,” he said.
