Introduction

This Publication seeks to investigate the plans and case studies of green building and sustainable design in Lagos, Nigeria, focusing on the strategies employed to promote energy efficiency, conservation of the environment and improvement of the quality of life for residents in the city.

The Need for Sustainable Design in Lagos

The Environmental issues emerging out in Lagos, a Nigerian economic power house and the largest city in Africa, are Pollution of air and water, deficiency in waste management and sensitivity to climate changes. Given a fast-growing Population, rapid urbanization rates, and sustainability demands, the ones of the city could only be met through green building and sustainable practices for the city’s long term viability and resilience.
