Hoodlums attack Police station in Anambra, demand removal of DPO

Hoodlums on Thursday attacked the Neni Police Station and Anaocha local government headquarters in Anambra State.

While confirming that attack, the PPRO said the hoodlums employed IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), insisting that they did not take away any arms, or whisked away any police personnel.

The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday. It was gathered that the attackers were shouting “DPO must go; he has overstayed; he has been in Anaocha for over 15 years.”

It was, however, not clear why they also attacked the local government office very close to the station.

The attackers were said to have alleged that Anaocha Police Station had become another SARS station, alleging that very bad things happen there.

According to him, the hoodlums were successfully repelled by the superior fire-power of the police operatives who engaged them and forced them to flee.

He further said that police operations were still ongoing in the area smoothly.
