Kwara: Abducted Chinese national rescued in Ilorin
The Kwara State Police Command has rescued the Chinese national, PengChao Zhang, who was abducted recently by six armed men.
PengChao, also known as Williams Kaka among his business associates, was rescued in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, in a statement in Ilorin on Wednesday.
The Chinese national was forcefully abducted in a recent kidnap incident that occurred in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, on March 10, 2024, by six armed men at Cherish Guest House, sparking concerns and fear within the community.
Ejire, disclosed that “through diligent and coordinated efforts, the command’s tactical teams and vigilante executed a series of strategic search and investigation leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of 19th March, 2024.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has since been reunited with his family unharmed. This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara state police command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.”
The statement asserted that the command, under the undaunted and excellent leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, remains steadfast in pursuing justice and holding accountable those responsible for such criminal acts.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly,” it added.
