Anambra 2025: Ubah, Ozigbo will still pass vote of confidence on Soludo — Aide

By Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Mr. Christian Aburime has stated that governorship aspirants Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, Valentine Ozigbo and a host of other prospective aspirants for the 2025 Anambra governorship election will all pass a vote of confidence on Soludo because they know the governor is performing creditably well.

Aburime who spoke exclusively with this journalist in his office at the Government House Awka, said there is no gainsaying the fact that the governor has done tremendously well in all the sectors of the State economy.

He said in road constructions, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has awarded almost 396 kilometers of roads. That about 250 kilometers have been done and awaiting commissioning, adding that more road projects would be awarded this year to bring it up to 450 kilometers of roads.

Aburime noted that the present administration has made it possible for communities without access roads to have well-constructed roads connecting them into their communities, stressing that the state government has recorded milestones in road infrastructure.

In security, Aburime noted that Anambra State was entrapped with security challenges and people being killed at will by criminal elements even as he stated that insecurity has been brought to the lowest ebb under the Soludo administration.

He said the situation was no longer the same again as people returned home massively for the last Christmas celebration across the State. That the state government has created an atmosphere of peace and tranquility such that there are no more threats to life from hoodlums.

Again, Aburime noted that the governor has been very fantastic in the education sector. He said the government declared free education in primary schools and from J.S.S 1 to J.S.S 3, adding that one can comfortably and conveniently say that Soludo has done so well in the education sector and needs to be commended too.

The governor’s Press Secretary was however of the opinion that those criticising Soludo negatively were just a mere insignificant few, who have blinded their eyes and sense of reasoning to the massive developmental strides of the present administration.

He said opposition elements would have no choice but to vote overwhelmingly for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in the upcoming governorship election because they know that he is meeting the expectations of Ndi-Anambra, adding that the people are 100 percent behind Soludo.

That no opposition can unseat Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo; not even the likes of Ifeanyi Ubah, Val Ozigbo as these people, will unanimously pass a vote of confidence on Soludo as well as vote massively for his reelection come 2025.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting on the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Anugbum Onuoha stated that the PVC collection exercise would be done side-by-side with the CVR exercise, also scheduled for May 27.

Recall that the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, had announced to begin the CVR exercise in Edo and Ondo ahead of the governorship elections in the two states.

Onuoha says while the statistics of registered voters in Edo is 2,501,081, collected PVC is 2,128,288 and uncollected PVCs stand at 373,030.

He said both the CVR and the PVC collection would be a 10-day exercise, starting from May 27 to June 5, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. daily, including weekends.

The REC explained that the exercise would be conducted in the 192 wards and the state headquarters of INEC in Edo.

He also disclosed that each registration centre would be managed by two officials drawn from the commission and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

“In addition to the registration of voters, the commission will also make available the uncollected PVCs for collection during CVR.

“Also note that no PVC will be collected by proxy. Registered voters should come in person to collect their cards.

“There will be no pre-registration option because of time constraints,” he said.

Onuoha, however, appealed for the support of the media, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), traditional rulers and religious leaders in encouraging voters to locate and pick up their PVCs.

According to him, the commission has published the final list of candidates for the Edo governorship election following the conclusion of primaries of the political parties.

The Deputy Director, Voter Registry, INEC Abuja, Mrs Doris Kande-Wyom, who took stakeholders through CVR processes, appealed to them to mobilise prospective registrants for the exercise.
