Ekiti Assembly mourns APC chairman’s death
The Ekiti House of Assembly has described as shocking the death of the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Paul Omotosho.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party chairman died in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness in a undisclosed hospital in Ekiti
A statement by the spokesperson of legislative, Mr Babatunde Oke, quotes the Speaker, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, as saying the sad news of the departure of Omotosho was received with shock and grief.
Aribasoye described Omotoso as an exceptional statesman, who made indelible marks in the growth and development of Ekiti in different capacities.
“He was a remarkable and selfless political leader, who was motivated by the common good of our people and our great party, APC.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to Oba Festus Olatunde, the Olaibiyemi II, the Onimesi of Imesi-Ekiti, the progressives family, the government and people of Ekiti, as well as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
“Also our condolences go to the immediate family of our dear cheerful, generous, and father, Omotosho, who was full of wise counsel.
“A frontline lawyer and conscientious politician of progressive bent, late Omotoso would be remembered for his immeasurable courage and patriotic contributions to the constitutional and socio-political development of Nigeria.
“Though painful to all of us in the 7th-Assembly that he couldn’t take our party to an enviable height he envisaged, we take solace in his legacies as a statesman of repute.
“We beseech God for the repose of his soul and to strengthen and comfort his family,” Aribasoye said.
