UNC trains 74 officers on leadership skills

A paramilitary Non-Governmental Organization popularly known as United Nigeria Chaplaincy Corp (UNC) has trained no fewer than 74 officers on leadership skills to meditate on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with the target of enhancing peaceful coexistence among the citizens.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja during the workshop, the Commandant General, Prof. Jidejisos Josiah Ejie said, “we have been here since yesterday in this camp to reaffirm our commitment in rebranding, reviving and reshaping our field activities.

“We are here to learn more skills about peace in resolving conflict in the society through intervention and partnership with other sister organisations.”

The Commandant General emphasised that their major work is peace mission which is in arbitration in nature by decongestant of the courts with all kinds of cases.

He stressed that they are also intervening in the educational institutions and market unions among groups to enlighten them to conduct their activities without violences.

“We are also moving from one parastatal to the other, asking government top officials to embrace peace in their activities and do away with the crisis.”

According to him, he is passionate about ensuring peace because “despite our various cultural heritage we need to embrace each other like the United States of America and Europe.”

“We can stay together whether Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba we are blessed with mineral and human resources to develop this country.”

He suggested that if the leadership of this country will embrace the National Confab introduced by the former President GoodLuck Jonathan-led administration the country will witness more unity and peace.

Amidst the untold hardship on Nigerians occasioned by skyrocketed inflation, Prof. Ejie called on President Bola Tinubu to give priority to the grassroots people in ensuring basic amenities for them.

He said, “Starting with us here we have empowerment programmes such as scholarships for the youths. Though, before Tinubu came to power the hardship on Nigerians has been there during the redesigned naira policy but he (Tinubu) should look deeply to proffer lasting solutions because Nigerians are suffering.

“We need patience and I have confidence in President Tinubu that there will be a turnaround very soon as he has demonstrated this in Lagos. I want to beg the President to come down home because it’s like he’s not fully home and he will understand my language. When you’re up and don’t look down you will not know what is happening so he needs to go down home.”
