Lagos, Vcare train teachers on global teaching practices

The Lagos State Education District III, in collaboration with Vcare Development Foundation, has organised a Three-Day training programme for teachers in the District with the theme: “Transforming Teachers for Tomorrow.”

In his welcome address at the commencement of the training programme, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli Balogun stated that education is the mother of all professions, as such the training was conceived to expose the participants to new skills with various techniques measured in line with global best practices.

He further said that the training would expose the teachers to a new mindset on how to nurture students to be better and brighter as well as enable them to develop new ways of interacting positively with students, parents and teachers instead of focusing on the challenges they face in the sector.

Alli-Balogun, therefore, encouraged the teachers to do more in identifying and tackling the issues of rape, drugs, cultism and examination malpractices, adding that at the end of the training, participants should be able to enhance their human capacity development and entrepreneurship skills which is a guaranteed investment they could leverage upon in future.

He also said that motivation is key in all endeavours. Therefore, they should be able to share experiences of their exposure to new teaching aids, acquire new skills and form new bonds of friendship with others at the training and their various schools.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Dr. Idowu Olufunke Oyetola, who was represented by Mr. Bolaji Ajayi, a Director in District III, said the training programme was designed to support educators, ignite their minds and shape the future of education.

He revealed that over 70 Teachers from various Secondary Schools within District III would be participating in the Three-Day training programme.

Also present at the training were the Head of Vcare Development Foundation, Ms. Mimansa Shukla and the Education Manager, Mrs. Sangeeta Ghosh as well as other staff of Education District III.
