Ethiopian airlines expands fleet with 11 A350-900s, eyes unmatched passenger experience

Ethiopian Airlines Group solidified its commitment to Airbus by signing an MOU for 11 A350-900s, with an option for six more. This decision, witnessed at the Dubai Airshow, boosts its A350 order book to a total of 33, including four A350-1000s.

Expressing enthusiasm, CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew highlighted the airline’s focus on customer comfort, citing distinctive features as the quietest cabin. Tasew emphasized the airline’s dedication to expanding its fleet with cutting-edge technology for an enhanced onboard experience.

Airbus’ Christian Scherer commended Ethiopian Airlines as a prime example of maximising the A350’s value for long-haul travel. He underscored the strategic advantage derived from Ethiopia’s geographical position, facilitating rapid connections between China and Latin America. Scherer expressed delight in strengthening the partnership and enhancing Ethiopian Airlines’ fleet.

Currently operating 20 A350-900s, Ethiopian Airlines aims to reinforce its standing as Africa’s largest A350 customer.

The A350, known as the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, boasts unparalleled capabilities in the 300-410 seater category. Its design, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics, ensures a 25 percent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs, and CO‚  emissions, coupled with a remarkable 50 percent noise reduction compared to previous generation competitors. With over 1,000 orders globally, the A350 remains a preferred choice for leading carriers.
