A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Honourable Bukola Ojuade, has been decorated with new Chieftaincy title by the Olu of Ayepe-Olode, Oba Yekini Omisore, in Ayepe-Olode, Osun State.
Ojuade was honoured with the title, Gbobaleke of Ayepe-Olode. The conferment of the traditional titles was part of the activities to mark the one-year coronation anniversary of the monarch.
Ojuade was awarded the title in recognition of the good works he had done in Ile-Ife, Osun State and Nigeria.
At the event, the Olu of Ayepe-Olode kingdom, Oba Yekini Omisore, commended the new Chief for his good works.
He said, “Ojuade is a workaholic. We deemed it fit to honour him with this title, because of the good things he has done for this town and his home town, Ile-Ife.”
He said Ojuade was singled out for the honour because he is a responsible son of the soil.
He said, “Our New Chief was singled out to give him a Chieftaincy title, because he is a responsible son of ours, and we cannot afford to do without him.”
Ojuade also bagged one of the highest prestigious Chieftaincy Titles of “Gbobaleke” of Ayepe-Olode kingdom.
The Monarch charged the newly installed chiefs to consider their new status as a challenge that will position them to further dedicated services to humanity not only in Osun State, but in Nigeria as a whole.
Emphasising that the conferment of the Traditional Chieftaincy Title was in recognition of the Ojuade’s sterling qualities and contributions to the development of his community, particularly at touching lives.
He also expressed the optimism that Ojuade would rise to the challenges which the new responsibilities have bestowed on him through the conferment of the title.
Ojuade has shown himself over time as a man of the people. His landmark performance as an entrepreneur and public servant overtime is applaudable.
His accelerated roadmap for development of his community is commendable, and it is not surprising that the ancient Olode town has found him worthy to be celebrated and honoured.
Speaking, Hon. Ojuade said the installation came as a surprise to him because he didn’t expect it, saying it coincided with one-year anniversary of the monarch. It is a recognition from the royal father. It is highly interesting because people came from all works of life. The one-year anniversary of the king is highly interesting.
“This is in recognition of roles I have played in society. I don’t know the modality the Monarch used to select me, maybe as a result of roles that I have played in the community through several empowerment programmes, facilitating job opportunities to indigent people, and as employer of labour among others.
“If one is given chieftaincy title, one must be a good person in the community. The Monarch has seen some qualities in me and human development. There is need to give back to our community. Any development we can give to communities, let’s do it.
“I will continue to give human development a priority. Community development should be our utmost priority not to galvanizing around because one has become a Chief. It is a call to serve humanity,” he declared.
He urged the king to continue to work for humanity and facilitate development into his domain.
“I am happy to be part of the Chiefs in Ayepe-Olode. Since the Monarch ascended the throne of his forefather, the town has been peaceful. We will continue to support him for the development of the town. He thanked the Monarch and pray God to give him long life and prosperity.”
Expressing his gratitude, Ojuade said, “I am happy and fulfilled. Do you know what it is to start from the beginning and rise to the top, getting here, it is no mean feat.”
