Stockbrokers set to appraise Global Market Trends

The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) has concluded arrangements to leverage its 27th Annual Conference to review the trends in the global financial market and domesticate its benefits for the growth and development of the Nigerian financial market:

Scheduled to hold at DLK Hall, Abeokuta, in collaboration with the Ogun State Government from Thursday, November 9 to Friday, November 10, 2023, the Conference, themed, “Appraising New Trends in the Global Capital Market: Localizing the Benefits,” will  focus on the fundamental operational issues, including product development, investment strategies, market regulation, and the transformative impact of technological innovations on cross-border capital flow.

The Conference Chairman, Mrs Elile Olutimayin, explained that this year’s conference would present a unique opportunity to dissect the trends in the global capital market and identify areas that the Nigerian financial market can maximise the benefits.

According to her, the time has come to further focus on the young talents and encourage them to develop capacity in the market as the market has always offered a space to meet the interest of different professionals.

“This year, we decided to take a deep dive into the factors that shape the global capital market and compare our market with its peers. We should ask ourselves: how can we localise the benefits of the good trends that are unfolding in the global capital market?

“We are also looking at our Institute’s certification and many ways into which the certification is relevant. We are equally concerned with how our members can deploy their certification in the Nigerian economy which is so diverse.

“We are interested in how to attract more young talents into our great profession

as the Millennials, Gen Z and the likes are the key drivers of the world financial market in the future. These and other critical issues of market development shall drive conversations at our 2023 Conference,” Olutimayin said.

The Institute’s President, Mr Oluwole Adeosun, shall unfold the strategic areas where the Federal Government can take advantage of the market to finance infrastructure projects. The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is among the top dignitaries expected at the event.

Other participants expected are other top government functionaries, market regulators and Chief Executive Officers of leading organisations in Nigeria and offshore amongst others.

The Conference, which will feature investiture of the Institute’s new Fellows and induction of Associates, shall come up with a communique on how the government can reform the economy for enhanced growth and development of the Nigerian Capital Market.

Last year’s Conference, hosted by the Edo State Government in Benin City,  was highly successful.
