Delta govt to close down illegal schools

The Delta State government will soon embark on closure of all illegal private schools in the State.

Commissioner for Primary Education in the State, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu made the remarks while speaking with newsmen in his office in Asaba, the State Capital.

The Commissioner, who noted that primary education is the foundation and very important in the education process of the child, said primary education should not be left in the hands of. quacks, adding that once the foundation is wrong, it becomes very difficult for the child to meet up.

He said to that effect, modalities are being put in place to ensure that quacks do not toy with the future of the children in the State as all Illegal schools in the State will soon be closed down.

The Commissioner also revealed that the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori has great plans for primary schools across the State.

In his words, “the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori is prepared to ensure the development of primary education; he is prepared to see that good teachers, Infrastructures are put in place across all schools in the state.”

He appealed to parents whose children are participating in the ongoing National Youth Games not to be worried, saying the Commission had put in place plans and provisions for the affected children so that they do not miss anything in their studies.

According to the commissioner, provisions have equally been made for schools being used for the national youth games so that they do not miss any aspect of this term academic curriculum.
