Police arrest suspect after bank robbery attempt in Lagos

A suspect was apprehended by the Lagos State Police on Sunday, September 3, after attempting to rob a bank.

The incident took place at a bank opposite Maplewood Estate in Oko Oba, Lagos, as reported by Deji Lambo, a user of X (formerly Twitter).

The suspects were in the midst of breaking the security doors to gain access when the state police command arrived at the scene.

Their prompt intervention led to the thwarting of the robbery and the arrest of one suspect.

Lambo emphasised the importance of prioritising the safety of Lagos by using the hashtag #LagosSafe.

In response to the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos, stated that they received a distress call at 4:20 am and swiftly responded to the situation.

He said, “We got the distress call at 4:20am and responded swiftly.”
