Four men faces court for allegedly conspiring to steal N10m property

Four men appeared in court on Wednesday at the Magbon-Alade Magistrates’ Court in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

They were accused of conspiring with others to steal property worth N10 million.

The defendants, Godwin Aki, Daniel Pervert, Nyanko Umar, and Mohammed Ibrahim, were charged with conspiracy, felony to stealing, and malicious damage.

However, they pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Ekundayo Friday, the defendants committed the offenses on August 23 within the Lekki Free Trade Zone area of Ibeju-Lekki.

They allegedly damaged and stole various items, including burglary proof aluminum frame windows, fence barb wire, water heater taps, and solar power lights, all valued at N10 million.

These items were the property of the Lekki Free Zone Development Company. Umar and Ibrahim were also accused of receiving the stolen items, knowing that they were stolen property.

The prosecutor stated that these actions contravene the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Magistrate Mrs. Olumide Fusika granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N2 million each, with two sureties in the same amount.

One of the sureties was required to deposit N500,000 into the Chief Registrar’s bond account at the Ikeja High Court. The addresses of the sureties must also be verified.

The case was adjourned until October 26 for mention.
