Ex-Federal Lawmakers express confidence in Ganduje’s leadership
Joel Oladele, Abuja
A delegation of former members of the House of Representatives have expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The leader of the delegation, Hon. Ibrahim Zailani made this known on Thursday during a congratulatory visit to the Chairman in Abuja.
Zailani said with Ganduje’s antecedents in Kano State, one is very sure that APC is lucky to have a personality like him as a leader, adding that the party is in a safe hand.
“We are here basically and fundamentally to congratulate you. We know you, we have been following you, we know your antecedents, we know what you have done in Kano state and we are very positive that you will translate the same thing here as the national chairman or our party.
“We have no doubt in our mind that you will lead this party to continuously forming government in the Federal Republic of Nigeria for more than six years, we know you can do it and we have absolute confidence that you can do it,” he said.
Speaking further, he assured the chairman that the forum has the interest of the party at heart and they are ready to work with him whenever duty calls.
“As you can see, we are representing the country because all the six geopolitical zones are adequately represented here.
“We may not be in the House of Representatives now, but we want to tell you that all of us have the energy, the vision and the interest of the party at heart, so we are offering ourselves for any party assignment.
“With this, we know from one of us, you may have a special place for either the legislators or former members of our forum, because we saw what you have done with one of our members who was your immediate past commissioner for finance. We want you to do more, possibly pick one of our ladies and work with in the APC.
“On behalf of all of us, we thank you, we’ll continue to pray for you, to show our solidarity, to show our support because any support given to you, we have given to ourselves because we belong to the All progressives Congress,” he promised.
Reacting, the APC Chairman appreciated the ex-lawmakers for identifying with him and promised to put their request into consideration.
“Like you requested, we shall involve you in what we are doing because you have institutional memory whether it is party administration or campaign or how to manage our diversities; you are very qualified than anyone.
“We view you as very important institution of our national diversity. We are aware our president Bola Ahmed Tinubu used national diversity to move Lagos forward where he was governor and he will use the same national diversity to move Nigeria forward,” Ganduje said.
