NCAA demands compliance with Civil Aviation Regulations on Insurance Cover
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has mandated all allied aviation services providers and airlines to comply with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations in insurance cover.
The directive is contained in an all Operator Letter referenced NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/369, dated Aug. 11, which was addressed to all airlines and allied aviation services providers
The letter was personally signed by Capt. Musa Nuhu, Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The letter revealed that the compliance was sequel to the coming into force of Nig. CARs 2022 on July 10, 2023 which made it mandatory that all airlines complied with Part 18.14.1.1 of the regulations.
Part 18.14.1.1 of the regulations said that all airlines and other allied aviation service providers mustn’t operate without adequate and valid insurance cover, it must submit copies of valid insurance certificate to the authority.
Airlines must provide evidence of payment of premium and other policy documents of insurance cover of three months and above as specified in IS: 18.14.1.1.
Insurance document which must be adequate and renewed before the expiration of the current policy and be submitted to the NCAA as soon as it was renewed.
The letter revealed that non-adherence to this regulation would attract immediate sanctions including the grounding of the specific aircraft and taking enforcement action against any airlines or service providers that defaults.
