OAU ASUU loses member, Prof Ajibade

The Academic Staff Union of University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife chapter has lost one of its loyal members, Professor Yetunde Adedoyin Ajibade of the Department of Arts and Social Science Education, Faculty of Education.

Ajibade who died on Tuesday in Ibadan, Oyo State after a brief illness. She was until her death pioneer Head of Department of Arts and Social Science Education and immediate past Provost of the Postgraduate College, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Reacting to her death, the chairman of ASUU, OAU chapter, Professor Anthony Odiwe described her demise as sudden and a rude shock to the union and the entire university community, saying she is a pleasant and an institutional woman.

He said late Ajibade had contributed to the progress and development of OAU.

“She served the university meritoriously and was at a time HoD of her department and Provost, Postgraduate College of the university. She was a woman that put everything she had into whatever responsibility she was given to discharge.

“We are going to miss her. Her death is very painful. She was a very amiable personality but we cannot question God for her death but to accept the reality because all of us will one day bid life farewell.

“We will continue to pray God for the repose of her soul. I commiserate with her immediate family, colleagues and friends for God to give them the fortitude to bear the painful death. The union will miss her because the union has lost a loyal and committed member,” Anthony said.
