Osun CDHR gets new executives, vows to hold Govts accountable for betterment of citizenry

The Committee for the Defense Of Human Rights (CDHR), Osun State Chapter has elected new executive members that will pilot the affairs of the organisation for the next two years.

The new executives emerged unopposed at the 2023 Osun State CDHR convention held at the Ola Oni House, Osogbo over the weekend.

The former Secretary of the human right group, Comrade Olowu Emmanuel emerged as the State Chairman while Comr. Gbedebo became his Vice.

Other members of exco are  Comr. Bamitale Olufadeju, State Secretary, Comr. Bashit Uthman, Assitance Secretary, Comrade Isaac Olapetan Treasurer, Comrade Kolapo Azeez Public Relations Officer, and Comrade Emily Ajibade, Assistances Public Relation Officer.

The elected officers were sworn in shortly after the election by the representative of the National Executive, Comrade Kolawole Sola, the current National treasurer.

Administering oath of office to the newly elected executives,  Comrade Sola charged them on the need to run a smooth and transparent administration for the betterment of the common masses.

He however charged them to always see the course of fighting for people’s rights as essential necessity.

Handling over the power, the immediate past chairman, Comrade Akinrinade Wahab urged his successor and his team to work wholeheartedly in order to  have a successful tenure.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of CDHR,  Comrade Emmanuel Olowu said, his administration will focus on the liberation of the masses.

The right activist further vowed that he would do everything within the confine of law to hold the governments accountable for the betterment of citizenry.

According to Olowu, Osun CDHR  will commence agitation for a working society, noting that “under my  leadership, we shall challenge and not rest till victory is attained.”

He said, “I thank every member of the organisation who made it to this year’s state Convention and to further appreciate all delegates who had voted and given us the power to lead the organization for the next two years.

“I understand how herculean the task before us are, and I understand how much our various communities need our organization because of what the organisation stands for.

“It is therefore mandatory, that we do not shy away from our responsibility, but keep forging ahead in the struggle to liberate the masses.

“This administration shall immediately embark on restructuring of all its units, partner with other organisations and liaison with government agencies, evaluate government projects and shall challenge government policies as when expected.

“We shall give back to the young ones in society by immediately setting up our advocacy program through which secondary school students will be educated on what human right stands for,” he concluded.
