FAC: Ogun LGs receive N4.969bn for June

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, has called on the Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas in the State to see their positions as an opportunity to bring transformation into their respective councils, as N4,969,099,395.89 was secured for the LGs from the Federal Government allocation for the month of June.

This call was made at the June 2023 edition of the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Conference Hall, Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, stating that each of them was holding the position of public trust, with the ability to bring more development at ensuring people’s comforts at all times.

Dr. Akinlesi noted that the government has continued to do its best at ensuring that the State continues to maintain a leading role among the comity of States.

Presenting the summary of the June Federal allocation, the Permanent Secretary and Accountant General of the State Treasury, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, said a sum of N4,969,099,395.89 came from Statutory Revenue, Value Added Taxes (VAT), Exchange Difference, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), Non-Mineral, Forex Equalization, Treasury Crude, Ecological and other mineral resources for the month under review.

He explained that a sum of N4,444,106,968.83 would be required to pay the first-line charges, which include: Primary School Teachers’ Salary, Local Government Staff Salary, Pensions, Traditional Councils among others, adding that it excluded Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax and five per cent Bond on Pension amounting to a total of N308,627,252.85, which are yet to be effected, while N833,619,679.91 was recorded as net surplus for the month.
