The Labour Party in Osun State on Thursday suspended the National Legal Adviser, Barr. Samuel Oyelekan Akingbade and State Women Leader, Mrs. Susan Ojo from the party indefinitely over gross misconduct.

Also suspended 11 Local Government Chairmen who attended a factional NEC meeting with suspended National Legal Adviser in Bauchi, Bauchi State in May 2023.

Speaking, at a press conference held at the Labour Party State Secretariat, the Chairman, Prince Adebayo Bello said that the decision of the State Executive Working Committee Council and Local Governments Chairmen in the State would be forward to the National Working Committee of the Party and other relevant bodies including all security agencies for further actions.

Bello called on the members of party and the general public to disregard anyone or group parading themselves State Officials of the Labour Party in Osun State.

According to him, “We are committed to ensuring that the party remains united and become the most formidable political platform in the state and in Nigeria that will produce visionary and transformational leaders who will take our country to greater height.

“We therefore, cannot be distracted by a few disgruntled elements whose major aim is to service their greed at the detriment of the party and the country.

“Our members and teeming supporters should remain calm and law abiding even in the face of the unwarranted provocation by divisive agents.

“Without prejudice, we are all aware that our party is currently facing some challenges at the national level, and this is snowballing into crisis in some states. However, we have been so lucky in Osun State, the State Executive of the party has remained united in spite of the shenanigans of some people.

“We cannot shy away from the fact that some members of the party have been attempting to take advantage of the crisis at the national level to cause confusion and division in Osun State Chapter of the Labour Party. We equally acknowledge the presence of members with inordinate ambition, which is gradually leading to the factionalisation of the party.

“But, as much as these people are trying, the vast majority of our party members and, indeed, millions of our party supporters are undaunted The public should note that the entire drama of indignity going on in the Labour Party is being sponsored by an electoral bandit whos main aim is to use fake Labour Party National Working Committee to scuttle the weighty petition that the party and its presidential candidate, HE Mr. Peter Obi tabled before the Presidential Election Tribunal.

“The intention is to create parallel structures at the National level and the states to lend support to the dirty agenda of scuttling the legal struggle of reclaiming the mandate of Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed in the 2023 Presidential election.

“We observe that if the activities of these undemocratic persons is not checked on time, it will either weaken the Labour Party structure in Osun or collapse it totally,” he added
