Taraba: Bonzena emerges Speaker, declares poor state of TSHA
The Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Bonzena John Kizito representing the people of Zing Local Government Area, has been re-elected to preside over the Taraba State 10th House of Assembly.
Bonzena who is representing his people for the fifth time at the State House of Assembly, emerged Speaker alongside his Deputy, Hon. Haman Adama through a unanimous decision of the 24 members of the House.
Speaking shortly after his swearing-in, Hon. Bonzina lamented the poor state of the Taraba State House of Assembly, maintaining that he was challenged by the problems.
He identified lack of office accommodations, Lack of training for both legislators and staff, unpaid backlog of allowances for the Staff, unpaid arrears of membership fees for Commonwealth and Parliamentary Association both Africa and international and digitalization of voting system among others but expressed confidence that they would collectively surmount them.
The speaker further lauded the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas for deliberately creating an enabling envíronment for the inauguration of the Taraba State 10th Assembly.
He stated that the Governor’s physical presence at the Hallow Chamber was a practical demonstration of how high he held the Legislature in the scheme of things.
“I wish to very specially commend His Excellency for deliberately creating an enabling envíronment for the inauguration of this Assembly today.

Hon. Bonzena reiterated that his door was still opened anytime for their suggestion where necessary and called for cooperation, support and prayers for the success of the 10th Assembly.
He further commended Journalists for their consistent and accurate reportage of activities of the legislature, the security, civil society groups, other non Governmental organizations and the clerk of the House and his team of support service providers for the technical advise provided for the House and enjoin them to do even more.
