World Environment Day: Osun Govt sensitises residents on health hazards of plastic pollution

For the 2023 World Environment Day, the Management and staff of Osun State Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has sensitised the residents of the state on health hazards of plastic pollution.
This year’s World Environment Day celebration in the state was led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Oladele Olawuni who said that the sensitisation is to create awareness on how to beat plastic pollution which is the theme for 2023 World Environment Day.
Olawuni noted that pollution is not only a major environmental problem in Nigeria but the world at large.
He said that in order to have a healthy and clean environment there must be proper disposal of plastics to reduce environmental pollution.
The workers who converged on Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old Garage, Osogbo moved through MDS, Ola Iya, Alekuwodo, Oke Fia, Rasco and later terminated the health walk at the Old Garage.
The members of staff in the ministry and students also went on an educational tour to Alphatime Energy Consult situated.
Reacting, the CEO of the company, Mr. Okunola took those present through the processes of how plastics can be recycled into pellets that could be used to make other household items.
