Abiodun’s second term will be fulfilling and Tinubu won’t disappoint Nigerians — Adekunle Ayoola

In this interview by Bankole Taiwo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and founder of Omooba Obaruwa Foundation, Prince Adekunle Adebayo Ayoola speaks on the second coming of Gov Dapo Abiodun as well as what Tinubu’s presidency holds for the country.

What does the second coming of Gov Abiodun mean for the residents of Ogun State?

Let me start by first congratulating His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun on his victory, I mean, a well deserved victory at the poll during the March 18 governorship   elections in the state and let me equally congratulate him as he is being sworn in for another term of four years today, May 29, 2023. It’s a case of one good term that deserves another. Here is a man who threw himself into serving the people of our dear state since assumption of office on May 29, 2023. This is not an audio government, but rather a government that has performed so creditably with abundant of quality projects that you can point to and talk about without any fear of contradiction. In the area of road construction across the state, Gov Abiodun is visible. Look at the newly reconstructed Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway, what of Ijebu-Ode-Epe dualised road that has opened up that corridor for serious business activities, how about so many access roads not touched in the last ten years or more that this administration had fixed?

In education and qualitative healthcare delivery, this government is visible with provision of over 1,000 classrooms equipped with furniture and fittings. Our healthcare facilities are being rehabilitated and equipped for qualitative services. The Governor has done so well in housing, agriculture, youth development and empowerment, security among others. I am not forgetting the big fish o, the game changer, that is the ongoing Agro-Cargo Airport at Ilisan Remo. The impact of the project on the economic prosperity of the state can’t be overemphasised and that is why I said the second term victory of Gov. Dapo Abiodun is well deserved. And back to your question of what the second term of the governor means for the people of the state, it means continuation of the good works for another four years. There will be many more roads, schools, hospitals, housing for the people. The Agro-Cargo Airport which is now about 70 per cent completed will be completed and commissioned. This project is touted to have the capability to provide at least 25,000 jobs. I have that strong conviction that the second term of Gov. Abiodun will be very, very refreshing and fulfilling.

But Otunba Segun Showunmi, one of the PDP governorship aspirants in the 2023 elections in the state just said that Gov Abiodun’s administration has been uninspiring, what do you say to this?

Anybody can say anything, you know they say talk is cheap. And what do you expect the opposition to say, you know the kind of opposition politics that they play in this part of the world now: politics of pull him down. However, the truth out there is that Gov Abiodun has done fantastically well across the state. You know the PDP just lost again to our party, APC and they are still reeling from their failure and you expect them to be praising the governor, it is still “bad belle politics.’ So, egbon is just on his own because the people of Ogun State have spoken and so be it. This is another reason why I wish the PDP won’t waste their precious time and resources contesting the victory of Gov. Abiodun at the Tribunal because it is a mandate freely given by the people of the state that will last till May 29, 2027 by the special grace of God.

How do you see things turning out to be under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is being inaugurated today as the President of our great country?

I want to use this medium to send my heartwarming congratulations to this beacon of our democracy, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is being inaugurated today as the leader of one of the most vibrant nations of the world. The truth is that this is a man whose eyes had been on this ball for a very long time. He was once a Senator after which he served meritoriously as the Governor of Lagos State for eight years. He has enough capacity to fix this country, he is so passionate about Nigeria, he is someone that is highly gifted in spotting out people that could be of great service to the nation. He is well aware of our challenges and that is why he had said that he and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima are coming to the government to renew hope of Nigerians. I can beat my chest that Nigerians won’t regret voting for Tinubu, he knows what to do with this mandate to make life a lot more comfortable for us all. All we have to do as Nigerians is to give our support and cooperation, we should keep praying for the success of this government. I know that Tinubu’s presidency means creation of more jobs for the youths, stability of our economy, improved security, a lot of investment in our infrastructure, education, healthcare and power too. It’s really going to be a very, very refreshing time by God’s grace.
