Unilorin to adopt electronic correspondence – Registrar

The University of Ilorin (Unilorin) has announced plans to adopt electronic system of correspondence to ease its administration.

The Registrar of the university, Mr Mansur Alfanla, said this on Monday in Ilorin during a meeting with Registry staff. Alfanla expressed his readiness to key into the digitisation drive of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole.

He stated Unilorin would henceforth ensure that all official correspondences were sent, received and treated electronically.

Addressing the staff on levels 11 to 13 at the Auditorium Basement, the registrar also hinted that he will be proposing that computer-based tests be adopted in promotion exams for the Registry personnel.

“This initiative would ensure that students results were being processed with despatch,” Alfanla said.

He solicited for the cooperation of the staff and acknowledged the support extended to him by the Deputy Registrars who were consistent and hardworking.

“Their efforts would surely take the University to greater heights,” he said.

He urged the them to continue to exhibit high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties and  shun unethical  conducts.

“We would not tolerate dereliction of duty and other issues inimical to your official conducts like late coming, insubordination and indiscipline,” he warned.

Some of the officers who spoke at the meeting urged the registrar to look into getting working tools like laptops for every staff while fixing internet issues in some offices to facilitate the full transition to digital registry.

They also stressed the need to have staff buses provided to ease the transportation challenges of staff in the institution and appealed to the registrar to consider this as an important issue to address.
