Idowu Omowole becomes new Acting Registrar of OAUSTECH

The Governing Council of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and technology has approved the appointment of Prof. David Aworinde as the second substantive Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university.

However, Idowu Omowole was also appointed as the Acting Registrar, as the approval was done at the 48th Regular Meeting of the council.

The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Paul Adeagbo, on Tuesday.

The statement read, “The new OAUSTECH Deputy Vice-Chancellor,  a professor of plant anatomy/taxonomy, is a member of the Botanical Society of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Tropical Biology Association.

“Before joining the services of OAUSTECH in June 2011, Prof. Aworinde lectured at the University of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State as Assistant Lecturer and Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta, Ogun State as Lecturer II.

“He joined the services of the university in June 2011 as Lecturer I, rose to the position of Senior Lecturer in December 2011, and was appointed Reader in October 2015. He was appointed a Professor in October 2019,” the statement added.

In accordance to the statement, it reads that the acting registrar, is a member of professional bodies: Association of Nigeria Professional Administrators and Association of University Administrators, UK.

“Before he joined the services of the University in 2009, the acting registrar had previously worked with the Federal Ministry of Labour, Federal Secretariat, Akure, Ondo State, as Labour Officer (2001-2009).

“Mr. Omowole served the university in various capacities and held various administrative positions since he joined the services of the university.”

However, Omowole was Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs Office (2009-2011), Students’ Affairs Officer (2011-2016), Principal Assistant Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, (2016-2017), Principal Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs (2017-2019), Registry Coordinator & Secretary to Council (2019-2020), Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs (2020-2021), and Secretary, OAUSTECH PG School from 2021 until his appointment.
