Personnel of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested one 32-year-old Mariam Yusuf for stealing baskets of tomatoes and pepper at a popular retail market, Kulende market in Ilorin, the State capital.
The suspect was reportedly arrested by the NSCDC personnel of the Kulende Outpost on Thursday following a report by some traders in the market.
It was gathered from traders in the market that issues of stealing within Kulende market had become a serious issue among the traders, such that they had suspected each other of stealing.
It was also learnt that the development had generated lots of infighting among the people.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the State Command of the NSCDC, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, confirmed the development.
“However, luck ran out of Mariam Yusuf on Wednesday when our personnel at Kulende Outpost, under Tanke Division, apprehended her for stealing tomatoes and other ingredients.
“Mariam has confessed to the crime and necessary legal action will be taken soon,” he said.
