Man, 42, allegedly sells 82-year-old father to ritualists for N1.8m
A 42-year-old man, Sunday Obasuyi, has been remanded by the Ekiti State magistrate court at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital for selling his 82-year-old father, Michael Obasuyi to ritualists.
The suspect was remanded alongside two other persons one Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51) for kidnapping and killing the octogenarian.
The Magistrate, Bankole Okuwasanmi, said that the suspects will be in remand pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin LGA, and that his corpse was, some weeks, later discovered in a shallow grave.
The prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8million to the third defendant, Sunday, who was an herbalist.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
