We have deployed enough personnel for polls in Rivers State — AIG
Barth Ndubuwah, Port Harcourt
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Saturday governorship and house of assembly elections, Kayode Egbetokun said they have deployed enough personnel for the said polls.
Egbetokun stated this on Thursday while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt.
According to him, it is safer for troublemakers to have a rethink, or be prepared to face the consequences.
The AIG who said the three weeks break after the Presidential and National elections was enough to correct mistakes of the past, stressed that there shall be no hiding place for troublemakers.
He said no stone would be left unturned to enforce totally the criminal laws.
The AIG urged all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties.
He emphasised that restriction order on vehicular movement between 6a.m. to 6p.m. on Saturday remain in force and shall be enforced to the latter.
The AIG dismissed insinuations that police or any other security agency was part of the people that disrupted the last Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“How can police saddled with the responsibility of ensuring peace now turn around to disrupt peace. It’s not possible,” the AIG retorted.
Apart from the AIG, other five Commissioners of Police were also posted to Rivers State for election duties.
