Over-voting: INEC cancels PDP VP candidate, Okowa’s LGA results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected the presidential results of the local government area of the Peoples Democratic Party’s vice-presidential candidate and Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, citing over-voting.

Governor Okowa hails from Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

This is in line with section 51(2) of the Electoral Act 2022 which provides that where the number of votes cast at an election in any polling unit exceeds the number of accredited voters, the presiding officer shall cancel the result of the election in that polling unit.

Although now cancelled, these were the results from the LGA:
