2023 Election:. Ortom directs EFCC to release Benue PDP Campaign Council DG

As the 2023 general elections for the presidential and national assemblies are in progress in Benue State, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has called on the state branch of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release the Director General of the State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa who was arrested for carrying N100, 000 during election.

Ortom also expressed worry why an agency like EFCC would be used to destroy Nigeria long awaited general elections.

Ortom gave the directive in his country home Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma Local Government Area while fielding questions from journalists shortly after casting his vote with his wife at Tse – Ortom polling unit. of Nzorov Council Ward, in Guma Local Government Area of the state.

He questioned why someone will no longer carry a small amount of money like N100,000 only for his or her up keep.

“EFCC arrested Tyokyaa for carrying N100, 000, I am carrying more than N100, 000, they should as well come and arrest me”, Ortom dared.

The governor described the adoption of new technology by INEC to conduct the 2023 general elections as commendable and added that with the improvement in the Nigeria’s electoral system, in time to come, elections would be conducted in Nigeria without litigations.

Ortom also projected to win his senatorial seat, believing victory for all other PDP candidates.

He described the turnout for the election as commendable despite the difficult situation faced by the people as a result of the new monetary policy.
