U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles to face Moroccan club in final friendly

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will tackle Moroccan club, Kawkab Athletics Marrakesh U-23 side in a friendly on Wednesday (today).

Ladan Bosso’s side were scheduled to face Central African Republic on Tuesday but the game was cancelled at the last minute.

The friendly against Kawkab Athletics will hold at the Complexe Sportif, Sidi Mohammed, Ain Sebaa, Casablanca.

It will kick-off at 5pm Nigerian time.

It will be the team’s last preparatory game before they kick-start their campaign at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The seven-time champions will take on Senegal in their opening fixture at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

NNPC Ltd. reassures public with over 1.5bn litres of petrol

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. says it has over 1.5 billion litres stock of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, which will last for over 30 days.

Mr Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd., said this in a statement on Tuesday.

The company called on motorists to shun panic buying of the product as the nationwide supply and distribution of PMS continued to improve across the country.

“In the filling stations monitored across several states, including Lagos and the FCT, the queues have since thinned out, a development that will keep improving daily in other states.

“The Company wishes to state that at the moment, it has over 1.5 billion litres stock of PMS, which is equivalent to over 30 days sufficiency.

“The NNPC Ltd. is also collaborating with relevant agencies, such as the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), labour unions in the sector and security operatives to address hoarding and other unwholesome practices,” he said.

Olubadan: Ladoja withdraws suit against Olubadan-in-Council

A former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has withdrawn the suit he filed against members of Olubadan-in-Council.

Ladoja is the current Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Ladoja is one of the High Chiefs that make up the Olubadan-in-Council.

Ladoja had earlier instituted the suit against the members of the Council over the beaded wearing crown before the demise of the late 42th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.

Our correspondent gathered from a source close to Ladoja that the former governor has withdrawn the case.

A close associate of the former governor, Adeola Oloko, confirmed the withdrawal of the case to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

He said, “Yes. It is true.”

Our correspondent gathered that the withdrawal of the case from the court is expected to pave way for the coronation of Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan stool is currently vacant, following the transition of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun.

NYSC cautions Corps members against night journeys

National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members observing their one year mandatory service in Taraba State have been cautioned against embarking on night journeys.

The state NYSC coordinator, Mr Ella Aji Williams, who gave the warning on Tuesday during the closing ceremony for the 2024, Batch ‘A’ stream II, directed the Corps members to always endeavor to break their journey once it is 6pm.

He also advised them to locate the nearest military or police barracks, where they can sleep, once they are running late.

The coordinator, who also admonished them on the need to desist from boarding vehicles by the roadside, urged the Corps members to take advantage of designated motor parks in order to ensure their safety.

“I wish to reiterate management’s travel advice to the Corps members against embarking on night travel. You are required to eschew night voyages.

“Endeavor to break your journey once it is six in the evening. Available locations for you to pass the night include police stations, military barracks and any close NYSC secretariat or orientation camp,” he said.
